Iberostar Grand Paraiso In the Morning, Playa Del Carmen

Temperature; +27C Wind; 1.7 m/sec Rain; Covered by ocean wave

THINGS THAT WENT WRONG;

a. Dudes on the beach gave me dirty looks when I went in to rough ocean with camera
b. Forgot to take three $10 bills from the trunk pocket before wet trip
c. Ocean wave covered both myself and camera in front of the public
d. Enjoyed sarcastic giggles from rich ass...oles on the way back
e. Had to explain Vera a rationale of my actions... You should know her practical mind
f. Gave beach serviceman $10 tip by accident for my favorite Mai-Thai

This shot could be well the last one made by this camera... I didn't pay an attention to the huge wave coming from the back and was splashed with camera all over. It survived this dip thanks to environmental seals, and spent just half an hour under the sun while lens and body were drying off !

Nikon D300
1/2000s f/5.6 at 30.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Your best photographs are captioned with the *Things that went Wrong* disclaimer; post more!
...I've spent a fair amount of time in the water with my Olympus E1 & E3, and sometimes it's a crap shoot with how Mother Nature will react, but 1st. & foremost is the physical security of the camera; I would NOT stand for looks from idiots on the beach however - tell them to piss off in Spanish*

Love the colors here, and the story with the wave makes this shot so much more precious. A great story, even though it sucks that they laughed at you and didn't come offering you a towel and some drinks instead for brave photojournalism.

To answer your question; real adventurers always get their feet wet... and eventually get lost, LOL

This fabulous image was worth all the hassle you endured...yet again!. Such clarity (especially in the circumstances) and vibrant colours....the sea is gorgeous.
Hope the man appreciated the soggy dripping tip! Could use of a surfboard have avoided some dampness, or if you do not possess sufficient balancing skills...a pedallo perhaps? :-)

Amigo, just book it ( with my help and Mexican mafia connections , LOL ) through Iberostar Lindo Paraiso web site and you will get the same for the fraction of the official costs ( $4,450 USD ), LOL. I paid $960 CAD for 7 nights for 2 (!). Holy macaroni, cawnolli and mascarponi with grease ! This is the way I plan our vacations, whereas most people get ripped off, very sad. This resort is next to none, trust me as I traveled all over the world and stayed in the most exlusive places. Here is a linkhttp://www.iberostar.com/EN/Riviera-Maya-hotels/Iberostar-Paraiso-Lindo_3_78.html to book and there is no need to thank me :-) . I never ever saw anything like that, simply superb.

Holy Canoli, you have to give me the address of this place!!!

Amigo, I should've probably mention that this resort just geographically belongs to the municipality, yet it's about 20 minutes drive north of Playa. Just to give some idea about the level of luxury, they built main lobby as an exact copy of Chichen-Itza El-Castillo pyramid in 1:1 scale ( you can see it from miles and miles away), have own shopping town with church & ambulance, the grounds are populated with exotic birds and animals, they serve food and drink directly on the beach to your chezlong, bathrobes are being deliverd to the beach, 11 a'la carte restaurants with the most exotic dishes you can get, massage salons & spas are all over the place etc. But what is more important, you get free booze and food 24 hours a day to your room a'la carte style and it's all free even if you order a cistern of tequila !

Thanks for the explaining amigo.
Nikon is well known for it's crispy colors.
I was here too one day,14 years ago.It was still a little village.Loved the temp and color of the sea. .The beaches were great too.Looks like luxury is coming to playa del Carmen!
I remember a small bar in mainstreet where you could have about half a liter Margharita for only 5 dollars during happy hour.I took 2,and had no idea how I reached the hotel ;-))

You wouldn't believe what I experienced when saw my brand new and expensive camera with lens all wet through, the only relief would've been that it was our last day in Mexico, LOL. Yet, this Nikon is built like a tank, and I am very happy that I made this choice when switched from Pentax system.
As for colours, I don't do too much any more with Photoshopping since I bought Nikon and magic 16-85 lens, as they have "Vivid" colour mode which I crank up normally in the sun conditions for saturation to "+2", contrast to "+1", lower gamma to "0" from "+1", and finally set sharpness to "+5" from regular "+3". Then I normally shoot at "-0.3" stops down and here you see the results. In Photoshop I darken the skies a bit, and do some unsharp masking, but this is all.

Eldar, I HEAR YOU!
...I'm often in the water shooting my weather sealed E1 exactly the same way, and honing my *6th sense skills* about avoiding waves approaching from the rear! (it can be done with practice but it's still a gamble)
Great colours BTW, are you saturating them in PhotoShop?
