Underground River Entrance, Yucatan

Underground River Entrance, Yucatan

Temperature; +26C Wind; 0.1 m/sec Rain; Lotsa Water

a. Slipped on the vertical 15 m ladder and ended up with my butt on the plastic bag with a camera underwater case and diving mask...yak...
b. Needed to explain Vera why underwater shooting was no longer possible...
c. Had to keep my head over the water level due to the leaking mask ( after accident ), and counted most stalacties in the cave with it ( head )...
d. Managed to find the only existing nail in the wooden stairs, and stepped over it in the dark...
e. Guide and Vera tripped over a power cord on the way back to the surface, ( I was way behind and alone ) and this put cave in complete darkness... including myself...
f. Spent at least 15 min in chilling waters while trying to identify an exit... In the meantime, Vera and the guide were exchanging funny stories and jokes on the surface...

Did you originally omit this comical tale, due to injured pride? I think so, as you couldn't have forgotten it all if it still seems like only yesterday. Indeed, the whole episode smacks of a bumbling Inspector Clouseau at his best!! Have to say again that this beautiful image was well worth it. Much salutations!

No. amigo, I won't do it.... Ask me why ? Hmmmm. it's not as spectacular in Web-posting as it's in the real life printout ot JPEG, but this D300 makes miracles ( well... I am part of it too, LOL ). I do believe that no other camera, except for yours, LOL, can do so well with handheld shot and such high ISO. Sorry for nudnikivism, LOL, but Amma lazy dog, ah. Don't forget superior to anything else Nikon optics, regardless of how much I hate this brand, LOL

Hello O Evil One. Looks like the entrance to the River Styx. At any moment I expect to see Hades himself, escorting a load of souls, destined to the lowest levels of Dante's Inferno. The light, within the darkness is magical indeed. And yet those areas, deep in the cavern, where the far off distance seems to disappear to infinite darkness may indeed be a source of mysterious light from the Inferno itself. May I, nudnick extraordinaire, suggest a little selective Photoshop shadow/highlight tool to reveal and expose additional wondrous light within this already fantastic photo of the underworld. Ciao, Michael.
