Der Lac des Dix zuhinderst im Val d'Hérémence entstand durch den Bau der höchsten Staumauer (282 m) der Welt: Grande Dixence. Diese Betonmasse mit einem Inhalt 5 960 000 m³ ist an ihrem Fuss eben so breit wie die grosse Cheops-Pyramide, zweimal so voluminös: Sie hält 400 Millionen m³ Wasser hintersich zurück, mit 1600 Millionen kWh elektrische Energie erzeugt werden können. Im Hintergrund in der Mitte des Bildes sind folgende Gipfel zu erkennen: Pigne d'Arolla, Mont Blanc de Cheillon und La Luette.
