10/27/08 - Tulip Montage

Trying to make artful images of these tulips. Showing them in a manner suitable for a botany text is easy. Making them look painterly is more of a challenge.
In camera - D300 Image Overlay of one image that has the near tulip in focus (the others are out of focus by using a wide open aperture on my macro lens) and a second image where everything is an out of focus blur (to provide the hazy fog in the composite image). Near tulip is positioned in line with a black background in order to better isolate & separate it from the others. Speaking of separation, I wish I'd made the space between the near tulip's left edge and the other tulips just a hair larger.

Beautiful work, I think the placement of the near tulip is fine. It seperates well due to the lack of focus on the background. V

Very interesting creation. I really like the tones, texture, and use of depth of field. Voted.

I don't think you need the extra space - there's enough in definition on the edge of the nearest tulip. Superb shot. V.
