9/22/04 - Shenandoah Sunrise

Up at 5 am. Off to Skyline Drive to catch a sunrise. Unfortunately, the sunrise wasn't one of the spectacular color types (gotta' learn how to "forecast" those since a 140 mile round trip at o'dark oclock for a routine capture is a bit much). This one will have to do for today. Here's an IR from the same spot taken a few weeks ago - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/33380802

I did try/learn something new. This situation pushed the dyanmic range of the camera (couldn't have shadow detail and highlight detail at the same time). There's a fairly standard way to solve that problem by combining two (or more) images). Here's my first try http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/34129727 and the explanation is below the example.
