We kicked off this gallery in July 2015 with just a few iPhone photos as Ye Olde Photographer was concentrating more on fitness than photography! The Skippack Township Trail is in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Its west end connects to the Perkiomen Trail at the old railroad bridge at Graterford. The east end travels largely a powerline right of way and ends on the outskirts of Evansburg State Park. The trail is slightly over 3 miles in length. Along the way there is a spur trail over two miles long that passes near or through some township recreation areas and ends up in the center of the historic Skippack Village which has shops, restaurants, galleries and lots of historic structures.
The portion of the trail that climbs up from the Perkiomen Creek level to cross state Route 113 has about a mile of climbing, some of it pretty serious, approaching a grade of perhaps 8% or more. The trail surface varies, some paved, some rolled cinders, and was generally good on a hybrid.
While much of the trail travels a large powerline right of way, it passes some suburban housing and horse pastures and has a stretch or two through woods; fairly diverse scenery.
