Kinzua Viaduct - 1968

Mt. Jewett, PA

When this viaduct was built in 1881, it was the world's highest and longest railroad bridge at
301 feet tall and 2,053 feet long. It was rebuilt, using steel instead of iron, in 1901. In more
recent times, this bridge, once used for tourist excursions, has been seriously damaged; e.g.,
partially collapsed (23 of 41 sections), by a tornado in 2003.
