Inside the Great Mosque al-Nuri. It was, it seeems, first the site of an ancient Sun Temple, then a Church of St. John, and now, dating from the 12-13th century, there is this mosque, the name refers to Nur al-Din.
It was Ramadan, and hot, so many people (well, men) sought the freshness of the well-cooled mosque. Some people sat studying the Koran, but also there seemed to be groups of friends sitting together, I was invited to a few and pictures had to be taken. The atmosphere was chatty and pleasant.
