Two bulls and two horned rams, on different levels, nibble the leaves of a tree, the branches of which spread out over the whole panel. The bulls, realistically executed, are of the zebu type but the hump is not very pronounced. The rams are characterized by a large tail, a type common in the mosaics of Madaba. The tree trunk grows out of a small pedestal which appears to be a little hill on the west side of the composition. The mosaic might once have decorated a room of an unknown sacred edifice. -- Piccirillo p159
