This is the theatre in Xanthos. It is from the 2nd century AD, a donation by Opramoas of Rhodiapolis paid for it. It stands at a spot where earlier here was the Lycian acropolis, that was surrounded by a wall (in places still visible, I thought) from the 5th century BC. It had a two-storey stage building, and could house 2200 people. Over the years some clearing has taken place, in 2016 it looked better than at earlier visits.
