Across the road from Sokollu Mehmet mosque there is a "tekke" that is now used as the Istanbul Design Center. It offers educational programs and hosts free seminars, organizes workshops, and exhibitions. When I visited some pupils were filming the building with very professional equipment.

I here group some other pictures that are not related to the mosque: portraits of a man I have met here and on earlier occassions elsewhere, he's works as aguide. And a group of amateur photographers that worked nearby. I increasinlgy come across groups like this, on this day I met two.

The building originally housed a Dervish lodge of Bukharan Uzbeks. It was constructed in 1692 and was renovated in 1887 by order of Sultan Abdulhamid II. After all dervish lodges were ordered closed in 1925 this one was kept open with special permission. It was renovated in 2006 and opened in 2008.
