I climbed a hill that ends in a high rock outcrop, from which one looks down on the road leading up to Harput. On the flank there are some parks, tea gardens, a children playground. On the very top there is a monument to some horserider. I was informed it represents Artukoglu Nuruddevle Balak Gazi (short form: Balakgazi). He is the founder of Artuklu Turkish State in Eastern Anatolia during the Seljuk period. He was a legendary governor, commander and warrior of eastern AnatolianTurks during crusades.
It is not bad and holds an excellent place. I took several pictures. Nearby there is the burial place of some holy man and a huge flag pole, that apart from being huge has no special appeal.
