I saw surprisingly many churches in Izmir, stressing its international character. This is the Church of St. John the Evangelist, for English speakers. It was consecrated by the Bishop of Gibraltar on April VII in 1902.
Indeed Izmir had an international character in the beginnings of 1900. There was lots of Levanten families living in the City. You may want to visit Buca's old mansions next time, for a unique mixture of local and western architecture.
Thank you for great pictures from my hometown.
