Niğde 047

This is the side of the Ak Medrese (White Koran School), dating back to 1409. The Lonely Planet Guide describes it as a transitional style: post-Seljuk Mongol, with an ogee above the main portal. I had to look up ogee, it seems to be, in this case: a pointed arch having on each side a reversed curve near the apex (Merriam-Websters Collegiate dict. that comes with Enc. Britt.).

Unfortunately it was closed. It had earlier served as the local museum, which now has quarters of its own. It was in use now by the university, but they had locked the gate.
