Antioch Pisidian

On the picture: The Decumanus Maximus (the main east–west-oriented street), where it runs along the theater (which lies to its left). When the theater was enlarged in 311-313 AD, it involved building above the Decumanus, which was taken through a tunnel 5m. wide and 55m. long. The stone blocks along the street are part of the bearing structure of that tunnel.

Correspondent: J.M.Criel, Antwerpen.
Sources: ‘Pisidian Antioch’ – Ünal Demirer, archaeologist. (Ankara, 1997)
& Personal visits (1994 – 2003).
