view map

The mourning women sarcophagus is one of a group that was found in 1887 in Sidon, of successive Phoenician kings. This sarcophagus dates from the mid-4th century BC. It is supposed to have been the resting place of King Straton of Sidon who died in 360 BC. The women are probably from his harem.
