I visited in December, and although "Christmas" as such is not part of the Turkish calendar of national festivities, I saw lots of Santa Clauses, most of the inflatable type. Well, the original St. Nicolas lived in the country, so they have a certain claim to him. However, in Holland we celebrate his festival at the 5th of December, in most of the world he has become identified (thanks to Coca Cola, it seems) to Christmas, and here he is a kind of Father Time, bringing in the new year. These men, to complicate matters further, sell tickets to the national lottery (milli piango).
