Niksar tuerbe

This is a Türbe, from the twelfth century, the Kulak Tekke. Some gravestones lying around of an ancient Turkish type, without a trace of the occupants. Inside a monument under some cloth.

This mausoleum, also named ‘Emir Arslan Doğmuş Türbesi’ (or ‘Kümbeti’) was partly restored at the end of the 20th century. Only the middle part was rebuilt: the cellar (the actual burial area) remained in its ruined state, and the original high pyramidal roof was replaced by a much lower metallic construction. At the same time – for some mysterious reason - the tomb was renamed ‘Tekke’ (= Dervish’s house), which it never was nor will be.
