The city boasts a – heavily canalized – river that must look impressive in some seasons, but in late summer had run dry. Along it stand some fine old houses, I hope the authorities will keep them and not have new apartment buildings built along it.
The river, called ‘Behzat Çayı’, is the one which flooded the Behzat Mosque in 1908, in a time she was not yet canalised heavily enough.
