This is a somewhat older picture. It was taken from the square, filled with tea gardens, that is surrounded by the "Egyptian Market" (in 2009 I found that famed market to be too much geared to tourism to my liking, nothing remained of the "Egyptian" atmosphere). That market was part of the original "külliye" of the mosque, i.e. the whole of hospital, public bath, primary school and such, designed as an integral part of the mosque complex.
