Apameia sarcophagus. Dating from the last quarter of the secopnd century AD this sarcophagus is in fine-grained white Docimeum (Iscehisar) marble. It was found furing the excavations for the state hospital in the centre of Dinar. It is thought to be local production/ On its corners Nike is represented, and on both the short sides Medusa heads. One of the long sides depicts, between Eros figures, the battle of Achilles and Penthesilea, as well as busts of the man and woman within the sarcophagus. The other side depicts, also between Eros figures, the meeting of Perseus and Andromeda. The roof-shaped cover has a shield motif in the pediment, akroteri at the corners and gargoyles along the edges.
