SEMAHANE (THE ROOM OF THE TOMB KEEPER)
Originally constructed as a small mosque in the time of Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev, the building was then used as the room of tomb keeper. Tomb keeping was a position in that time. Semahane was a place where dervishes whirled accompanied by religious music.

This room is to the left of the entrance and before the grate you will see on some pictures.

This semahane is not to be confused with the ‘new’ one (1512) on the northern side of the lower courtyard.

Note: When entering the southeastern aisle of the complex, one finds three rooms connecting with each other. These are called the ‘Orta Sofa (Middle hall). The specialists, however, do not agree upon the question whether all three rooms should be called also ‘Türbedar Odası’ (room of the ‘Türbedar’ = head of the personnel taking care of the graves); some of them reserve this name to the third room only (where the doors are that lead into the mosque and the mausoleum of Seyit Battal Gazi).
