Women wearing diverse festive costumes (late 19th and first half of the 20th century):
(from left to right) two ‘üçetek’ costumes, one ‘bindallı entari’ with cape, one two-piece embroidered silk dress and a bride in bindallı dress, adorned with motives of flower vases and bouquets. Her head and shoulders are covered with a big red scarf. The lute playing lady in the back is also wearing an ‘üçetek’ costume.
An ‘üçetek’ is a robe with three panels: one wide at the back side, and two smaller in front.
‘Bindallı entari’ means: ‘robe with thousand branches’, because the decorative motifs on the robe consist mainly of branches with leaves and flowers.
