‘Strabon Restoran’: Lonely Planet’s “favourite riverside deck” in Amasya.
It bears the name of Strabo (Greek: Στράβων / Strabōn; 64/63 BC – AD 24) who was a Greek geographer, philosopher and historian (but not a cook...).

From Wikipedia: He was born to an affluent family from Amaseia in Pontus (modern Amasya, Turkey). Pontus had recently fallen to the Roman Republic, and although politically he was a proponent of Roman imperialism, Strabo belonged on his mother's side to a prominent family whose members had held important positions under the resisting regime of King Mithridates VI of Pontus. During his life he travelled extensively through the Roman empire; his major work is his ‘Geography’.

Correspondent: J.M.Criel, Antwerpen.
