The local economy of the adjacent city of Kınık depends on agriculture. The climate is the typical Mediterranean pattern of hot dry summers and warm wet winters. Kınık and the villages around traditionally grow pomegranates and citrus fruits, and more recently a large quantity of fruits and vegetables all year round in greenhouses, some of them made of glass, but mostly using translucent plastic (which disappears in summer, when greenhouses are not needed).
