Antakya dec 2008 6000b.jpg

Orthostat from Taynat, 8th century BC

Two warriors on a chariot and a gigantic slain enemy under the chariot.
Reported to have been found at Tell Tainat in 1896.

Tell Tayinat (Tell Tainat) is located about 25km east to the city of Antakya. The site is about 800 meters to the site of Tell Açana. The site's ancient name was probably Kunulua which was the capital of Neo-Hittite kingdom Patina/Unqi (which were names used by Assyrians). Several orthostats and ornamented columnbases were found, which date to 9th - 7th centuries BC.
