Three college teams with plenty of players who grew up as teammates or respected rivals -- now with new teams and new teammates? That's a recipe for a grand day of softball between St. Michael's College, Norwich University, and Castleton State College on a foggy, misty, playable day ... I was at the fields for 8 hours, might have taken a few pictures (440), kept some of them for review (263), and here are a few for fun (172) ... :-)SMC won all three of it's games, since the first game went 9 innings (hey, our field, our ball, our rules). Whitney had a monster HR in game 1, KellyL had a HR bomb of her own innings later to tie it. Every Knight contributed -- offensively and defensively. It was a fun day of ball. Kater played center, pitched, and played short; picked up 4 hits with 4 runs scored and 3 rbi and a couple stolen bases; threw 3 scoreless innings, giving up 3 hits, 0 walks, 1 HBP, and striking out two (another step on the rehab path) ...
Attention now shifts to the offseason workouts and everyone should be pretty pleased with what we saw in Fall Ball from the veterans and the newbies -- it's a nice group of players who are fun to root for. GO MIKE'S -- we'll see you in Florida in March!
