Olympus SP-560 ~ Focus/Shutter Lag Test 11/17/07

Today I gave the SP-560 a really difficult task, to test shutter lag and focusing. Since the late turning trees still have some color, we took a trip to Pennsboro on Interstate 50.
The whole round trip took about 35 mins. We started a little after noon, the worst time of day, and there were only a few clouds in the sky.
All pictures were taken from inside our minivan, through the windshield and side window, at speeds of 55-65 mph.(one exception: PB170237...we were slowing down at an exit)
Of 175 pictures taken, only 15 were completely out of focus, all due to my twisting, turning, zooming, and adjusting my new CP.
I felt no shutter lag compared to the UZI, and never had one problem achieving focus lock!
I have never been able to get a decent fall shot from the UZI without a lot of post processing. Please see my pblog "Past Peak Color in WV" for UZI comparison.
Am I thrilled?...You Betcha! I can even see leaves and tree shadows on the ground.
I selected these 30 original images and applied Qimage USM filter adjustment only, and they have been downsized to 800 x 600 px @80%.
All were taken in Aperture Priority; settings were SHQ jpeg, Contrast +1, Saturation +2, Spot focus, esp meter, auto WB, auto ISO, IS.

Congratulations on the new camera, Donna. I'd say it's passing all the tests with flying colors. Like the travelogue here and the pretty late fall colors. You're mastering this camera with amazing speed. Well done.
