Resurrection Plant (Borya septentrionalis)

best viewed at original size

This is yet another species whose foliage shrivels in the dry season but the leaves don’t die; they re-green when the rains return.
This enables Resurrection Plant to grow in shallow layers of soil over impermeable sheets of rock, and that is indeed where it is to be found.

We have a dwarf mugo pine that does the very same brown-to-re-green cycle - very similar looking too!

Certainly is a tough little plant Don!

Ah, the miracle of water to resurrect shriveled spiky foliage growing from rock. Like mosses. Interesting photo and info.
