Cocky Apple (Planchonia careya)

There’s a story behind these spent flowers. Cocky Apple flowers open in the evening, and the petals and male flower parts fall early the following morning.
Overnight, hopefully, they’ve attracted bats to pollinate them, the female parts remaining on the tree to develop into fruit. Birds also visit the flowers first thing in the morning to obtain nectar.
For scaling, the stamen filaments (white with red base) are 25 to 45 mm long.

Are the parrots drawn to these Don? Reminds me of the carpet the gum blossoms make
after a visit from a flock of various of the parrot family.

Such a short, sweet and busy life for these pretty colored flowers, newly fallen among the faded beauty.

Beautiful Don... I thought at first glance they were sea creatures. It helps to have the biology lesson as well.
