Unless otherwise noted, these images were provided by Jim Coppinger, grandson of the Coppinger family who founded the attraction that drew locals and tourists alike to see the tropical beauty on the south bank of the Miami River at 19th Avenue.
Henry Coppinger, born in Ireland, opened his tourist attraction in 1914 and a portion of the property contained a Seminole Indian Village where Indians could make a decent living. The excavation of canals to drain the Everglades in the early 1900's deprived the Seminoles of most of their income from selling animal hides and pelts.
