1957 - "Miss Iris" Maxwell with my future wife Karen Criswell and her brother Jim on WCKT-TV Channel 7's "Romper Room"

Miami, Florida

My future wife Karen is at the front left and Jim is sitting to her right. "Miss Iris" wrote "To Jimmie the gentleman and Karen, my very special weather lady ___ Miss Iris - WCKT"

"Miss Iris" was also "Miss Miami Beach" in 1953 and a postcard photo of her is in this gallery.

Yes I was her best Do Bee she told me this many times as "Miss Iris" Maxwell is my Mother! How nice to have such a Historic Site from "The Good Old Days" of Miami. Later she did Public Relations for the MISS USA contest at the Carriage House Hotel for the incredible winner that year, Miss Virginia, Debra Shelton! I got to taker Debra to the Alive and Kicking (Tighter and Tighter song fame) concert at the Miami Beach Convention Center!

I should know the model number, but that is an RCA Black & White TV camera. If you think that's big, somewhere in a back room is likely 3 racks of tube type equipment PER CAMERA to make it all work. Back in these days, WCKT, Channel 7 was the NBC affiliate. We now know it as WSVN, the Fox affiliate. I think it has always been on the Wonderful Isle Of Dreams, North Bay Village. Also once the home to WIOD, AM 610.
