Karen's dad retired in 1982 and moved with her mom Esther, also a retired Dade County Schools teacher, from Biscayne Park to a new home on a mountain in Swannanoa, NC. We visited them two or three times a year from 1982 until 1999. Her dad passed away in Asheville, NC, in 1999 and her mom moved to Franklin, Tennessee shortly thereafter.
