1960s - "Jumpin" Jack's Channel 10 Sell Sheet with Lester the Lazy Lion and Jack E Parrot

Miami, Florida

Thank you to "Jumpin" Jack O'Brien for contributing this image. He says: "Don...here is something you wont see every day...it's The Jumpinjack Show sell sheet, used to sell the show to sponsors. We were sold out most of the time and we beat the Mickey Mouse Club that showed opposite us on Channel 7 every time...and we beat them badly (my claim to fame). That's Lester the Lazy Lion on the left...he used to sing songs (badly) and Jack E Parrot on the right...he was patterned after Jack E Leonard, the comedian...kind of a sweet wise guy. I have no idea what happened to Bill Dunstal, my puppet man...he was great and while I wrote all the copy for the puppets, he made them come alive for me...he was great!! Anyone know where he is, I would love to hear from him."

I remember the great commercials for Municipal Auto Sales where Jack would always hit the car he was showing before it drove off. And then there was the day he did that and the doors fell off...

To answer some of your questions: Yes, I did the weather in the late sixties...also was doing Jumpin Jack at the same time. Did weather for five years, very boring job, so I transferred to the Sports Department and stayed there for six more years..loved it! My friend Ken Taylor who did news at channel 10 passed away a few years ago, I am sorry to say and Jose Puig, thank you for the kind words...Jumpinjack and Jack O'Brien now live in Cane Ridge, Tennessee..south of Nashville and my email address is jumpinjack@comcast.net
would love to hear from anyone who liked or didnt like the show!! It was a really fun time in my life and a dream come true!!

Didn't Jack O'Brien also do the weather on the Channel 10 newscasts in the late 1960s?

This is a great pic! I see the old channel 10 slogan, Take 10 and See! I wonder whatever happened to Ken Taylor. Ken was the "DJ" or announcer for channel 10. I remember him coming on every now and then.

Thanks for your comments. Jumpin' Jack is alive and kicking in the Nashville area. His e-mail address was posted above and I suspect he likes to hear from former fans like you. Otherwise he wouldn't have posted it. Don

The first time that I visited this website I was mesmerized in more ways than one! Because it really brought back some very wonderful memories of my childhood-espcially when I saw the old "Jumpin' 4 O'Clock Club" which I always watched when I came home from school. I really loved that show and I also felt quite sad when it went off the air. And as long as I mentioned Jumpin' Jack, whatever became of Jack O'Brien?
