1967 - NW 77th Court (Palmetto Frontage Road) at about NW 110th Street

Northwest Dade County, Florida

This view is looking south-southwest and shows a solitary home west of the Palmetto. The Little River Canal at NW 107th Street is a few blocks south. The water tower was in the parking lot of the large building to the south of the Little River Canal that was originally a Farmer's Market and then a Flea Market of some type. As mid teens we climbed the water tower in 1963 at night and it was scary once we got up there, so scary that it was difficult to climb down but we managed to pull it off. None of us were dumb enough to do that again.

other sizes: small medium original auto

The Other Place, oh boy does that place bring back memories. Some of the best nights I'll never remember. Drink and Sink night, mid 70's all you can drink $5.00.

I believe you are refering to Rick's Bar?

I think that water tower would be where a hotel is now at 103 St. Was there a water park of some sort there before the hotel? I remember a huge bar, in about 1980, that had live bands and an 'all you can drink' night for $7. It was a regular hang out for those of us at WVUM. My record, 21 rum and cokes, most of which I left in the parking lot. The name of this bar escapes me.... 'the other place'?
