1933 - Germany's "Graf Zeppelin" with a Tydol gas truck at Naval Air Station Miami
Naval Air Station Miami, Florida
Thank you to David Hurst for contributing this great old image. David says that his dad told him how his dad (David's grandfather) took him to see it in 1933 in their 1926 model T.
The Graf Zeppelin was by far the most successful airship ever. It flew the first round the world passenger flight in 1929. This stop in Miami was in transit from Brazil (it had regular Germany-Brazil service) to Chicago for the Century of Progress World’s Fair. It flew from there to Germany via Sevilla, Spain.
Graf Zeppelin, along with the Hindenberg's sister ship, Graf Zeppelin II, were dismantled in 1940.
