1962 - on approach to MIA's old short narrow runway 9-R in American Airtaxi Piper PA-28 N2194P

Miami International Airport, Florida

This was after the tower cleared a four engine jet (B707, DC-8 or CV-880) to take off on runway 27L and he climbed over us as we were on approach to 9-R. Runway 9-R at the time was 9350 feet long as I recall. The image of the aircraft that we flew on is at http://www.pbase.com/airlinerphotos/image/99562896

Vernon, no problem at all not being Miami-related. Thank you for the unfortunate information on that same Piper that we flew on and from which the above photo was taken.

Don
I realize that this information had nothing to do with Miami but thought you might like to have this tidbit of information. I was researching Piper aircraft when I ran across and accident report for PA-23 N2194P. The report was dated in March 1967 and the accident occurred at Oklahoma City,OK, it stated that the aircraft experienced a hard landing causing the landing gear to collapse resulting in substantial damage to the airplane.

I was training for my mulit-engine rating at American Air Taxi in 1961 and 62 with Jerry Conklin. Flew both PA 23's and co-pilot C18S Twinbeech. If possible I would like to make contact with some one who has photos of AAT operations.
