The enormous palace is believed to have been built between 1805 and 1808.
"On the road again we took on petrol at 8006.8 at 11.30 and made it to Rey Bouba just after noon. It was hot, a real northern dry season hot! We found the sultanate but it was only later that we found a French speaker to interpret for us. While waiting to see if we can see the inside, we fixed lunch. Denise is really feeling the heat. The bread unfortunately met with the water in the cooler, but we have hopes it will dry. The cooler is really working well. We still have cold water inside. They tell us that the road to Garoua is reasonable in daylight but of course by night it is never as easy.
We did manage to visit the sultanate and received some gifts from the Sultan."
