Fire in Down Town Port-au-Prince

Fire was started on both sides of the street between 8:00 and 9:00 PM. Photos start at about 4:30 AM the next morning. Photos are very large scale and most have been photo edited to show more detail. While the sun comes up at about 5:00 AM, it was rather dark. The fire was under control at about 2:00 PM and out at about 6:00 PM. There were no injuries but some thirty shops and businesses were destroyed. Several alleged arsonists have been arrested.

The press reported the arrival of the Brazilian troops (sorry, no photos) but ignored the fact that without the water provided by the US and Canada the fire would have spread to the market across the street.
