Cerro Pirre is a mountain ridge rising to 5400 feet above the Cana Camp which is at 1700 feet. Our group hiked up the ridge to a second camp at the 4500 feet level where we camped in tents for two nights. We hiked up to the top of the ridge on our full day on the ridge into cloud forest, and encountered many species which only occur at this high elevation and which are endemic.
