Elaine (my wife)grew up in this house right on the corner of Broadway and Bailey in Buffalo. It was much different then. In the front, where the picture window is located were framed windows surrounding the front to around the corners. Windows to a sun porch. The roof over the porch had a rail around it and not the built up half walls. There was a large barn/garage to the left of the house in the photo.
We grew up in totally different environs. Someday I'll have to travel out to West Falls, NY and get a photo of the house in which I grew to young adulthood. Quite different, it was almost the extreme opposite. I lived way up on the top of a hill that formed the East side of the Colden Valley. It was a huge lawn with a house surrounded by trees and farmers' fields of corn and potatoes with large forested woods behind the fields.
I live not to far from there and it's a shame. Been in Buffalo all my life and can't believe how the blight has been slowly expanding. Entire areas looking like a ghoust town. Well I'm off to see the wizard, maybe he can help. Now where's that yellow brick road?
An interesting gallery Don. The solidness of the homes is still quite evident...must be sad for Elaine to see her old neighbourhood fall into disrepair...such changes.
