Oil Spill Consequences

I found this quite interesting.
I went out for a bit of a drive.
Just the runabout kind of trip.
Out for the day exploring.
And I saw this little gas station.
The sign written for all to see.
It should have read like this:
"THE OIL SPILL IS NOT MY FAULT!!!"
That is what it is really saying.
Or how about "DON'T BLAME ME"?
I didn't see the letters "BP" anywhere.
Just the logo stuck out.
I wonder how much it hurts business.
After all, it must be.
Otherwise why the sign at all.
You may be "LocaLLY OWNed".
And for that I feel bad.
However, this is part of life too.
BP skimps on safety.
It is not the gas station owners fault.
It is the corporation's fault.
But we don't buy gas directly.
We buy it from you, the owner.
People are not driving any less.
However, they are buying elsewhere now.
This is America at work.
People speaking with their wallets.
They would do the same if it was Mobil.
Exxon, Gulf, any of them that caused it.
They would have the same effects.
People would stop buying gas from them.
They would just buy it elsewhere.
It does suck for the owners like this.
But maybe next time the company won't scrimp.
Maybe next time they will be careful.
I bet things have changed already.
I bet saftey on rigs went up.
I'm sure they are checking things twice.
None of them want to be the next BP.
None of them want to hang this sign.
Maybe a couple cans of yellow paint.
Heck, change the company name.
That will fix the ocean...
Or at least help the stockholders.

'Locally Owned', well so what the hell!!! How many shrimp boats are there on the Gulf Coast that are 'locally owned'? How many of the oysterman's companies are 'locally owned'?? How many other fishing companies in Louisianna are 'locally owned'? Lots of them, and most will be gone in two years, because BP will put them out of business to save it's own financial hide. I could go one for about 50 pages, but you get the point. Good work. vote. Lee

Your thoughts on the subject elevate the image to a higher place. That is hard to do since an image speaks a thousand words.
