On July 6, Nazarov Rahmonshoh died in Matravn, Yazgulom. The next day his funeral was held, attracting a large number of people from Matravn and neighboring villages.
About 6,000 people live in Yazgulom, in five different villages. Their language, Yazgulomi, is spoken nowhere else. Yazgulom's residents are Pamiri. The vast majority of Pamiris are Ismaili, but by contrast Yazgulomis practice the Sunni branch of Islam.
