178mm, 70-200VR lens, slightly gusty conditions, VR on,f/9.5 at 1/3000 second at ISO 400 in RAW mode. I select f/9.5 when I need a lot of DOF,and also good optical performance with this lens...9.5 is beautifully sharp.
Mary's Peak, elevation 4,097 feet, is the highest point in Oregon’s Coast Range mountain range. That's where I took this photo from, from right within a cloud formation. At a little below the summit,at around 4,050 feet or so, the clouds revealed nothing, and there really was almost nothing to see except treetops and misty, wet clouds, swirling around my body... then the clouds cleared, revealing this view. The lighting was pretty much exactly like this....there's been no dodging or burning or trickery with this file. The lighting was odd,to say the least.
