This shot is from my first test session using miniature Christmas lights as a background. The lights were strung in front of gold-colored curtains, and I used the 200mm f/2 VR-Nikkor prime lens set to f/2.8 to make the out of focus miniature lights turn into perfectly rounded out of focus point light sources. I had to use a slow shutter speed of 1/13 second at ISO 400 to get the lights to expose brightly enough, so for the foreground I had to use electronic flash to illuminate Jenni. I found that the Christmas lights looked best when the white balance was set to Tungsten, so to make the foreground flash exposure, I gelled the flash with the Nikon TN-1A filter.
