The local Canadians (geese, that is) seem to have hit the jackpot. Eleven new offspring, and all of them hungry. Fortunately for them, the mom and dad are keeping them off the pond, since below the lily pads lurks the mother of all nasty snapping turtles. That evil bastard killed three of the seven cygnets that the swans hatched last season. These guys would be easy pickings right now.

It appears that the swans themselves are about to hatch a new batch of eggs, so things could be hopping around here pretty soon. If we're not careful, there's going to be one fat snapper in the pond. Dr. Miller, whose pond it is, has his binoculars and shotgun ready!
