Today I had an opportunity to work on a really cool project. I shot the cover for the 2008 PA Travel Guide! I’ve had the cover before. The year before last they used a a photo I’d shot of a hang glider. That one was one I had already shot and they simply leased it from me. This year, they wanted to design what would be on it.
For a few days artist Rod Tryon worked in very adverse conditions to render the image in pastels. We had a lot of rain and cold gusty conditions so the city set up a tent for him to work in. Regardless of the weather, he did a really amazing job!
The image he is rendering is coincidently an interpretation of a photo I’d shot last year. The location just happens to be where I was married last weekend! I had no idea what the artwork was going to be until we began this here in Pittsburgh a few days ago.
