Moraine State Park, PA

I had this Friday off from work and had hoped to be able to go for a long drive to shoot around the country side. Alas, it was ANOTHER wet, humid rainy day again. The lighting was terrible outside as it has been for over a week now. It’s funny, gray skies used to bother me before I took photos but now “bad light” days drive me nuts! LOL

I spent the day running errands and eventually went to check on the house as I have been staying in the city apartment for the week. What I found at the house was a disaster. We had asked a “friend” who asks us for favors all the time to watch the place. All she had to do was come in once/day and hit a button on one of the pumps that is on the fritz to prevent flooding.

Well, she never came and I found the entire basement under water… DAMN! After stemming the tide and doing some quick damage control I just HAD to go look for a shot to calm my nerves.

I drove 70 miles in two hours, winding around country roads. The sun was masked by thick, hazy clouds the color of lead and everything looked flat and dull. Every once in a while a thin spot in the clouds would let light through. I had an inkling that if I drove to Neely Point I would get a shot and the clouds/sun would cooperate.

Indeed they did. Here are 3 fishermen, a father and two sons, who let me shoot them.

I felt so much better…

Just 9 more days until Cat returns from Europe....

What a restful scene - the colours are beautiful and the composition works really well. Definitely something good to offset the misfortunes of the day. Hope the water has not done too much damage.
