Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Today was a day of ironies for me. My new EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS lens came in today. Of course I was excited and couldn’t wait until lunch to use it! This is one of the first shots I took. As I walked around the side of the building looking for another bird to shoot, my mother rang my cell phone. Placing the camera down on a wall, dang this lens is heavy, I stopped to chat with her. While we were talking a peregrine falcon flew over my head!! LOL Missed that shot. Then I began to feel ill and not due to missing the shot. I used to dream of how I would go crazy shooting with this lens the day I got it. Now I am home early from work not feeling 100%....ahhh, the ironies of life…

By the way, this is a male House Sparrow, Passer domesticus.

What a wonderful colour contrast between the mid and light browns of the bird and the Fall redish tones of the leaves. Exraordinary rendition of your new 70-200 IS USM, on best hands from now on !

Your glass investment has already started to pay off judging by this fine shot - Hope you'll recover soon and be able to reap more benefits from this beauty.

Congratulations on your new lense. Thought the same as Steven that you had dropped it..felt a small wave of panic.

Nice shot too.

WOW! I can't wait to see what you will be up to with your new toy!

You scared me! When you put the camera down for the phone, I thought this would end in a dropped camera and broken lens! Very nice shot. Gets a vote.

NICE shot!! Isn't that lens incredible? I just love it. Great colors and that creamy smooth bokeh just makes the bird pop right out! Excellent shot, congrats on the lens!
