Pittsburgh, PA USA

The Cathedral of Learning stretches to the sky in all it's Gothic glory over this little frontier cabin from the days when this was Fort Pitt and the French & Indian War was raging.

The funny thing about this shot was that right after snapping it, a huge ball of snow fell out of the trees and hit me on the head! LOL

I uploaded 3 other photos to my Around Oakland gallery I took this morning.

Canon EOS 10D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1/1500s f/4.0 at 17.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

I was just pointing out this cabin to a friend the other day and never noticed the towering cathedral behind it. I love the contrast, its everywhere in this great city.

Wonderful! I love the brilliant blue sky, the icy trees against it and the modern against the old fashioned. Exceptional!

WOW... So terrific! The snow covered branches are wonderful and the old/new is just perfect! Nice job!

What an incredible image! The perspective, the snow in the trees, and the azure blue sky is unbelievable enough - but the juxtaposition of those two subjects is beyond all reason! WOW - this is one of those shots that speaks volumes, Ron. Great eye - and stellar capture! :)
